On the 15th of October 2022, Kenyans who have unregistered sim cards shall be locked out of service. This is after the government communications authority of Kenya announced the plan early this year. Since many Kenyans had not registered by the earlier set deadline on 15th April.

To avoid getting your sim card locked, you need to update your registration details with the provider either Safaricom, airtel, or Telkom. Below is a guide on how you can register your line.

How To Update Sim Card Registration Online

  • Visit the Safaricom website
  • Go to the sim card registration page
  • Enter your mobile number
  • Receive and enter a one-time verification
  • Upload the front side and back of your identification document
  • Click on verify to finish

What happens after your sim card is locked?

After your sim card is locked, you shall not be able to access all services provided by your network provider. CA also said that Kenyans who shall not register their sim cards by 15th October 2022 shall be fined.

  2. Choose your preferred language
  3. Press 0 to get a human agent
